Back To Eastbourne

We went back to Eastbourne (and Tome).  I bought a couple more obscure late Wellses.  Ailz was after Nevil Shute- and found just the one title. For a writer who was an enormous best-seller in his day he's become remarkably rare.

The Pentacle Drummers were making an enormous, wonderful noise in the town centre.

We had afternoon tea on the beach at Seaford.

Towards the end of the afternoon the sky cleared and the sun came out. I love the South Downs.

You don't often see Nevil Shute - he seemed to fall out of fashion in a massive way, though he has a hard core of fans (I've inherited most of my dad's collection and I'm nowhere near reading them all yet).

Perhaps the people who have his books are holding onto them...

It's possible!

It looks like the sea is right over the crest of those low hills. Is it?

Actually, no. We're looking inland. The sea lies in the opposite direction- a mile or two away.
