Here's a trade secret I learned off Matthew; if you want your garden bonfire to go like a bomb, put a piece of plastic in it.

Yes I know it's not terribly ecological, but then Matthew is the greenest person I know; he lives in a cabin in the woods with no electricity and an earth toilet, so it can't be that bad, can it?

Anyway, I had this bonfire I've been building all through the winter. It stood about 7 feet tall. I stuck a broken plastic guitar on top of the kindling and WHOOSH!

His 'cabin' is made mainly from tent material - his bender is just a lot bigger now than it was. Cabin makes it sound like it has walls, and he said he won't add walls as it then becomes liable to council tax.
