Heigh Ho, The Wind And The Rain

My mother's alarm clock failed to wake me this morning- probably because it was drowned out by the wind.

It was a very stormy night- and the wind is still blowing hard this morning. Two of our trees have had large pieces knocked off them.

Yesterday was our day out. The wind hadn't started up at that stage, but it was raining hard. We needed a break so we went aquaplaning round East Sussex. Ian said we might like Forest Row- and we did. We had lunch there in an organic restaurant called Taffels and it was very good. On the way home we stopped briefly in Hartfield which I learned afterwards was A.A. Milne's home village.

The paper says our storm system and America's storm system are holding hands over the Atlantic. How sweet.

My mother lived for a while in Forest Row. Certainly if I were looking for an organic restaurant, it'd be a good place to start!

It was raining hard so I didn't get to look around as much as I'd have liked but it seemed a very pleasant little town.

Had coffee and a bun type snack in Taffels once on the way between Crawley and Tunbridge Wells. The food looked good too. I think i may have stopped in Forest Row for a charity shop visit and my friend was doing an exit poll survey outside the small Tesco Express on a petrol station forecourt.Must have been about two years ago in the summer.

The food is mostly salads and sandwiches- but very superior ones- we're talking artisan bread and organic veg. I had a mackerel fillet with side salad. It came served on a wooden trencher.

I had a tuna sandwich from them whilst my friend was finishing her visit across the road.. There is a little green there if i remember rightly.

Yes, that's right. It was raining hard so I didn't get to walk on it.
