A blazingly good novel. About the prisons we build- and build for ourselves by building them for others. About how we give people power over us by making them invisible. About the delights and otherwise of possession.

Waters takes us into Victorian seance rooms and into the women's prison at Millbank and into the parlours of the rich- and it's a good question as to where- in which of these environments- the horrors lie thickest.

I have read some of her books but not this one and i am intrigued. I shall look out for it.
