Kippers

We had kippers for lunch. Very nice they were too. But I had to take a firm stance and push the decision through. My mother said kippers were for breakfast and Ailz said she'd never had one before and wasn't sure she wanted to start now.

Kippers are great value for money. Three kippers- best quality- organic, no less- are £1.85 in Sainsbury's. That's a very cheap meal.

Quite so! Add in some rice (not expensive, even microwaveable), a chopped leek, onion, and whatever other vegetables catch your fancy, and you've got a tasty kedgeree for very little money, brimming with all the herby spiciness you care to toss in. (Life without garlic must surely have been a desperate age)

I'm very fond of kedgeree. I actually bought a piece of smoked haddock yesterday with a view to making it this week.

We quite often have smoked mackerel for lunch - and sometimes I make it into a kedgeree, and then it qualifies as dinner food.

There are many things which are traditionally breakfast foods which I enjoy very much, but couldn't face at breakfast.

I have a glass of orange and a croissant for breakfast. The only time I eat anything more is if we're on holiday.
