Glum indeed. Was the other angel correspondingly cheerful?

The other angel was so badly weathered as to be expressionless.

Disappointing Christmas gift, is my reading.

It's a heraldic shield. I suppose it may once have been painted with somebody's coat of arms.

Melancholy but not weeping, fortunately.

And very small...

That would be depressing to meet every Sunday.
