Briefly

My new library ticket allows me to take out up to 30 books at a time. Why would I want to?

Alan Bennett's life (between 1980 and 1990) is comfortingly normal. He rides a bicycle, has nightmares, goes to funerals, visits his mother in her care home; it could almost be your blog or mine, except that he keeps running into people like Maggie Smith and Judy Dench. Elizabeth Taylor sits on his knee and it's uncomfortable.

We went to Lidl to buy treats- jam for me, prunes for Ailz, prawns for my mother, a very cheap bottle of whisky.

T-Mobile tells me I've exceeded my "fair use" internet limit and won't be able to upload any more photographs for a while.

"library ticket": I like that.

30 books must be something like a whole shelf- and it's a very small library. If everybody took their full quota it'd be stripped bare.

30 books would be if you were doing research to write something... like a book or an academic paper. Typically, I have between 30 and 40 books checked out at the end of every semester.

I take your point- only this is a small branch library mainly stocked with popular fiction.
