Is the George a good pub? I suspect so - a genuinely handwritten blackboard sign is a positive marker, vs one simply printed in a hardwriting font. It also lacks the obvious trappings of any of the poorer pubcos, such as Olde Tyme decorations - rather, it looks comfortably worn in. ^_^ (Now to find out I'm hilariously wrong =:)

We were pressed for time- and I had about 15 minutes to take in as much of Shoreham as I could. I didn't go in the George but I liked the look of it.
