Journey To The Centre Of The Tardis

I suppose The Big Friendly Button was an in-joke. Even so, did we really need yet another story in which time is re-set and everything that's just happened is erased?

It was nice to see the Tardis's library and have a glimpse of the swimming pool.

Pity about the generic space ship corridors.

We're coming close to learning the Doctor's "real" name. What can it possibly be that won't prove an anti-climax?

I'm going with Eric.

My father's name. Could this possibly mean - oo - er!

We're related!

I fancy Tiberius. But actually this was a better story than most of late.I would have loved to rummage around the library though.

Tiberius is a noble name...

Yes, more time in the libary, less time with those deeply uninteresting scavengers.

Remember rule #1: Moffat lies.

Smith amuses me but I wish he'd morph into someone with more range and depth.

It's hard to see how else they could've resolved it any other way. The salvagers were dull - more wood than the police box - but I still enjoyed it a lot.

The TARDIS needs roundels.

The Doctor's name? Titus.

We weren't given any reason to care about the salvagers. Like so many stories in the modern era it tried to cram too much into its running time.

Oddly enough, this seemed to be Steven Moffat's precise reaction when I saw him at Comic-Con last year. Someone asked him about whether we'd learn the Doctor's name and he said with a vaguely annoyed amusement, "Stan" or something like that. I think he even said, a little derisively something like, "What could it possibly be to make it worth revealing it?" So I think this is all a tease. The name will probably simply be revealed to River and we won't hear it. The panel's on here on YouTube.

He's got form for this sort of thing. Building up our expectations then not carrying through. I wish he wouldn't.

Some of the Tardis scenes were nice, but I was hoping this episode would be much more trippy and Alice-ish.

And I agree about the time reset, especially with the sugary touches of 'Even though it didn't really happen, now we are better people'.
