Last Minute Shopping

We thought Sainsbury's would be full of people yesterday morning but it wasn't- and all the prices on Christmas stuff had been cut by half or a third.

Oh, they cancelled Christmas because of the recession - didn't you hear?

What a good idea.

We've found things quieter than you might expect pretty much all over.

That's good, I think. We need to scale back on Christmas. We've let it become this hateful festival of consumerism.

As a believer, you won't find me arguing with that view! :o)

Last night we were at the big Carrefour near our house and the cashiers were all saying how quiet it was...and that's not a good thing for their jobs.

Surely people are always going to need supermarkets. What they don't need is a once yearly blow-out.

I agree with you on that but business here is far worse than where you are. And many people who have supermarket jobs....or any job in retail....are being made redundant because of the lack of sales. And at this season if sales are bad, even more will be let go after the holidays.

Hard times- and getting harder...
