A Legal Query

I do wonder why no-one has ever sued David Icke. The things he says about the rich and famous are blood-curdling. Is it because his targets think he sufficiently discredits himself with his theories about lizard people and the hollow moon or is it because- amidst all the  craziness- he's got hold of things they'd rather not have aired in open court? He was- let it never be forgotten- right about Jimmy Savile.

I think Icke has a lot of information come his way and he puts it out in his books and other media without sifting it. Some of the information is utter bollocks and some has the ring of truth.

Trouble is, I think he believes the bollocks. I've been watching him- from a distance- since the early '90s. He's utterly credulous and absurdly brave.

Who else would wear one?

He says so much that is totally off the rail that most sane people don't take him seriously. However, he has a sizable loyal (even fanatical) following, and I personally wonder if he hasn't been in some way influential in some of these mass shootings that we have experienced in recent years. I am a firm believer in freedom of expression, so I don't want him silenced, but he does scare me.... or, shall I say, some of his disciples scare me.

When he got started in the early 90s he was all about spirituality. I found him interesting. Then he went on the BBC
and said he was the "Son of God".

I've never heard him linked to shootings before. I've always thought- whatever else he might be- that he was peaceful person.

He may well be, but some of his followers are decidedly mentally ill. I once had to back out of a woman's house because she was starting to escalate while quoting Ike, and was becoming increasingly delusional.

I had to un-Friend and ban a guy on my FB account because he was turning Ike's stuff into his own brand of Nazi ideology, and, like the woman, was escalating.

This kind of thing worries me.

I know what you mean. I don't think Icke's an anti-semite but some of his theories come close to crossing the line.

[livejournal.com profile] wardytron's idiot brother went to an Icke rally.

He does sound a bit like Jesus, sadly. If he could run to a miracle or two he could get somewhere.
