All That Glitters

They arrested Gary Glitter. Talk about "rounding up the usual suspects". Will they now be interviewing Prince Charles? He was a great mate of Savile's too. He could give them some pointers, I'm sure. Then there's Prince Andrew. He may not have known Savile (I'm not sure about that) but he was very good friends with that other noted philanthropist, Jeffrey Epstein.

Perhaps the police should talk to Esther Rantzen. She has openly admitted she "blocked her ears to the gossip" about Saville. Blocked her ears to what, and why?

I trust they will.

Ben Fellows, former child actor, has hinted that someone very like Rantzen was holding parties at which he- still technically a child- was plied with drink and drugs and relentlessly propositioned by media types of both sexes.

I never liked Rantzen - or "that bloody tooth woman!" as my father called her. She always came over as this bizarre cross of interfering do-gooder and moron who found misshapen vegetables funny.

That was a weird show. Very tabloid. I'm afraid I used to watch it, though....

I doubt it would even be commissioned now. One thing that I remember is there were substantial allegations of child abuse made on it, especially against a now-closed boarding school, Crookham Court. Funny how a woman who made such a stance against child abuse worked closely with an alleged pedophile.

Being exposed on TV programmes like That's Life is only for the little people.
