Coal Tits?

I hung a block of Bill Oddie's "power feed" in the ash tree this morning and it has attracted what I think are coal tits. We've not seen them in our yard before. I've had my bird book out and I've been poring over the plates. Coal tits are very like great tits only without the blue stripe along the wing. I wish the little buggers would stay still for half a minute so I could be sure.

I'm used to seeing great tits, but these little fellas are new to me.

Since we have no birds we call "tits" and since that's the way we spell "teats" over here, your post title conjured up a rather different mental image.

We spell "teats" that way too. It's a source of endless hilarity.

Yes, "great tits" had me laughing like a teenaged boy. :-)

I think I saw a long-tailed tit once, but never a coal. Hope you got a good sighting in the end.

Keep feeding 'em, they'll hang around...

Bill Oddie's power feed, eh? That's a new one on me...
