The Rebel Flesh
After the delicate and touching fantasy of the Gaiman episode it was back to monster of the week and lots of running around in confined spaces. Everything- exposition, characterisation, visuals- was muddy. Matt Smith is capable of rising to a good script, but give him a poor one and he merges with the scenery- as he did here. And why- in the names of consistency and continuity- was uxorious Rory jonesing after a girl with cheese for a face? At least the pirate episode- bad as it was- had pirates.
