A Footnote

A footnote to yesterday's story:

Karl's wife asked her grandad and he said that her great-uncle Jimmy Buckley had a work-mate called Kirkbride- so that pretty much confirms the identification.

I can see exactly what you are saying about not feeling you have to post when you have nothing particular to say. But I agree with many of your correspondents who just like to tune in and see what you are doing and thinking. I usually check out your postings in batches, and really enjoy your writing style and occasional rages. Maybe I should reply more often to give you feedback. But I know you get plenty as it is. Still now I know I can, without having my own LJ, I will, from time to time. The one I thought I should have replied to was about van Gogh, but someone else did it for me!

I think what I was really doing was giving myself permission not to post if I didn't want to.

I'd got into a state where I was sitting gazing at the screen for hours, desperately trying to drum up some inspiration.
