We're having the back living-room made over into a bookroom- with custom built shelving and a new desk for Ailz. I've inherited her old one- I carried it dangerously up two flights of stairs yesterday-and my old one is going back to being the occasional table it was always intended to be. This morning I find myself reaching for drawers that are no longer there. Come on, brain, don't be sluggish- write yourself some new pathways.

I cut the grass yesterday- probably for the last time this year. The sun was shining. I had washing on the line. Today the stormy weather is back.
