Sun Chant

It was raining on and off. "Do a sun dance," she said.

"I don't know a sun dance," I said, "But I do know a sun chant."

I got the words a little wrong to begin with but Ailz set me right.

It goes...

"We all are one with the eternal sun
For ever and ever and ever."

Which I understand to be a translation of this chant in one of the native American languages

Ku-atay, leno, leno ma-hotay
Hi-ano. hi-ano, hi-ano.

The others picked up the tune and joined in.

And I swear that as we sang the sun came out and when we stopped it went back in again...
