Mercenary

We had two estate agents come round to price the house.  One was big and smiley and talked about cricket and made a fuss of the bun and the other gave us an estimate that was £10,000 higher.

You can buy a lot of cricket-talk and bunny-fussing for £10,000.

We gave big and smiley two lemon geranium cuttings as a consolation prize.

You were kind.

I just put out my signs!

Under "For Sale by Owner," I wrote, with trembling hand: "By Appointment, Please."

Now the milling about in my yard begins...

(The ads came out in today's papers. My realtor had already gotten three calls in two hours!)

I wish us all luck!

I hope you both get every penny you want, and that you sell your houses before you get sick of showing them.

House prices

[identity profile] methodius.livejournal.com 2006-05-19 09:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Our house cost a lot less than the difference. Admittedly that was 20 years ago.

I hated having to send the guy away empty handed. I'm not made to be any sort of a business person.

Our boards ought to go out on Monday.

How strange that we're doing this at the same time.

The showing is the worst part, as I remember.

It's amazing how this house has rocketed in value. We put it on the market for £40,000 about ten years ago and no-one wanted it. Now we're told we can ask £150,000 and people will be flocking to buy.

I'd be pleased if I could report my house has sold on Monday.

The realtor swears it will happen.

Today she's showing it to a woman who wants to put her husband in a nursing home, then move to my town where her friends are.

(What a sad story, with gaps in it.)

[identity profile] poliphilo.livejournal.com 2006-05-20 07:57 am (UTC)(link)
That is sad.

My realtor says the same- we should have no problem selling the place.

Fingers crossed.

And then let the adventures begin!

The house is so clean I keep going out to the porch lest I get lint on something.

I picked roses and honeysuckle early this morning and put them in a vase on the kitchen table...

The people came by and loved the house (a different couple--the woman will come tomorrow), but must get more money, etc.

This is fun!

[identity profile] poliphilo.livejournal.com 2006-05-20 09:26 am (UTC)(link)
Fun?

Yes, it is fun, isn't it?

But, we're on hold at the moment. Nothing more can happen until the boards go up on Monday.

So, finding ourselves at a loose end, we went out this morning and bought ourselves another rabbit.

Tra-la, then! How wonderful!

Well? How does Bunny like him?

Or her?

Will they find love at last, behind the sofa?

I hear bunnies tend to find love rather easily.

[identity profile] poliphilo.livejournal.com 2006-05-20 12:33 pm (UTC)(link)
The two bunnies don't get to meet until she (her name is Rachel) has been neutered.

We pick her up from the bunny sanctuary next week.

She is about three times his size.

It's taken me 20 years to get the itch.

But, yeah, it's such a complicated business.
