Just Stop It, Nick

It's not rational or reasonable to be a materialist.

Materialism is simply a viewpoint, based on a selection of the evidence that presents itself to our senses but disregarding the rest.

You could be rude and call it a prejudice.

It's certainly not scientific. Contemporary science (as opposed to the Victorian science we perversely cling to) has shown us that matter doesn't exist.

I'm reading this book co-authored by Nick Cave. He isn't a materialist but keeps characterising the materialist viewpoint as "rational"- in opposition to his preferred viewpoint which one might characterise as "spiritual", "mystical" or (the word he favours though I don't) "religious". I wish he wouldn't. Every time he does it I want to drive over to Brighton, take him by the lapels and shake him.

Which would be foolish because he's younger than I am and almost certainly in better condition....
