My mother quit the racing business several years ago but we still get catalogues from stud farms. One came yesterday; if you want your mare covered by the cheapest stallion this outfit has to offer it'll cost you £4,000. If you want their best the price is marked as "private" meaning only those to whom money is no object need apply (at least I think that's what it means.)
These things are always expensively produced, with pictures of glossy stallions printed on paper so glossy it's unlikely to biodegrade- so I put them in the regular rubbish bin and not in the box for recycling.
