Electrics

The electricity went down- and getting it up again took most of yesterday afternoon. Our son-in-law chose to train as an electrician because the pay is good and- and after yesterday I can confirm that it is- indeed- very, very good. I told my sister what the call-out had cost and she went, "But that's ridiculous!"

The solution to the problem turned out to be simple- laughably so; we could have fixed it ourselves if we'd had the know-how- but that's the point; we don't- and messing about with electrics is dangerous if you're going in blind.

Our electrician liked to talk. I was on the phone to Clover- playing schools- so Ailz got the job of following him around, pointing out the power points to him and being told about kilohertz and ohms and how Covid 19 is a scam. He wasn't terribly impressed by our system- which dates from the 1970s- with patches added on as and when- but conceded that it'll probably last out our time. Let whoever moves in after us cop for the cost and the pain of rewiring!
