Pass Me That Madeleine
I know my memory of my early adult life is patchy, but...
Becky has given me a book by Martin Palmer. "You were friendly with him," she says- and goes on to tell me about a visit we made- with the kids- to some sort of community he was running in South Manchester. This would have been in the early 80s because our youngest son was in a pushchair. Her memories are quite vivid- and I don't remember a thing- about Palmer or his community or anything connected to him. I tried to jog my memory by looking at some pictures of him on line- pictures of him as he was then and as he is now (hob-nobbing with the Duke of Edinburgh)- but nothing sparked. "He had an Australian wife," she says- and something briefly stirs and then I realise I'm remembering another guy's Australian wife- only she wasn't an Australian but a New Zealander.
Anyway, it looks like an interesting book. I can see why we might have been pals....
