The Myth Of Er
In Plato's Myth of Er - the story of a man who dies and goes to heaven and then wakes up on his funeral pyre- discarnate souls meet in a meadow to discuss their experiences and then move to a place where they are offered a choice of future lives- which sounds very like the process Michael Newton has his hypnotic subjects describe in his books about Life between Lives. In Newton's version the souls watch snatches of future lives on screens, in Plato's a "prophet" throws the lives on the ground in front of the souls and they sort through them as if they were bundles of clothes; all that's different is the technology. It makes me think that the myth of Er has a real NDE at the back of it.
